JULY 2008
I am leaving for Central Asia to climb the challenging 7000 meter peak Khan Tengri on the border between Kazakhstan and Kirgisistan. It is the last "warm up" climb before my Everest climb next spring. Images from the Tengri Expedition will be posted when I'm back in the beginning of august.

I am safely back after three weeks in China, working hard on all the images for the three new stories. They will be posted once they have been published in Berlingske Tidende before the Olympics. In the meantime the tearsheets section has been updated with lots of news!

I won a Gold Prize in the category "Economy, Science and Technology - Stories" in China International Press Photo Contest 2007 with my story "India Rising" about the 'economic boom' in India.
APRIL 2008
The Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism in Hannover, Germany has chosen to exhibit my "India Rising" photo essay. 60 exhibitions are planned on the new festival, which takes place from the 18th to the 21st of June.

I won two awards in Best Of Photojournalism 2008:
3rd Place for "A Childhood Behind Bars," in the category "Best Published Picture Story", and Honerable Mention in the same category for "Beirut After the War".

I am participating with images from China, Uganda, Italy and Beirut in the project The Human Condition: Photographs by Members of the Lightstalkers Virtual Community.

I won Third Place in the 65th Pictures Of The Year International (POYi) - 'Feature Picture Story' for "A Childhood Behind Bars," a feature about Latvia's only youth prison.

NEW STORY - I have finally finished work on the big story about urbanization I shot in Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya. This year marks the first time in human history that the majority of the world’s population will live in cities. At the same time, the number of people living in urban slums is passing the one billion mark, about every third person living in a city. See "Africa's Largest Slum".

NEW STORY - I have just been to Peloponnese in southern Greece to shoot a news picture story on the wildfires that were raging in late august. The out-of-control situation have claimed at least 68 lives and left the countryside looks as though a bomb has been dropped on the area. See the images here. Tearsheets here.

NEW STORY - On a trip to Latvia, I visited the country's only youth prison. The inmates are from 14-21 years old and many have commited serious crimes like murder and rape.

NEW STORY - I have just returned from Spain, where I shot a story in El Ejido - one of the world's biggest vegetable growing regions, where thousands of illegal African immigrants are working in hot, plastic greenhouses in Spain's Andalucia region for less than 25 euro a day. I covered the street riots in Copenhagen following the clearence of Ungdomshuset (Youth House). On 1 March 2007 the building was cleared of its occupants. This resulted in the break out of rioting, including the blocking of the main street of Norrebro, and fires were started all over the city. I am once again working for the danish daily Berlingske Tidende for the summer. Among many assignments I travelled to Damascus, Syria to cover the biggest evacuation of danish citizens since World War II.

Just got back from Africa, where I climbed Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and shot two stories related to the Lord's Resistance Army in northern Uganda.
